Sport
As a club, and through our work with the Hull KR Foundation, we know first-hand the impact that access to sports and activity can have on individuals and communities.
Integral to our city, to our fans and beyond, an investment into rugby and into sport plays a huge role within our proposals – set to provide new opportunities for local young people; to strengthen our men’s and women’s rugby teams; to expand our netball team and to provide a new home for the wheelchair rugby team.
Our plans would see the development of:
- Three new grass training pitches, one of which will be accessible to local clubs and teams, complete with suitable changing facilities.
- The rejuvenation of the Waudby Centre to create a multi-sport indoor hall, benefiting the community and serving as the home for Hull KR Netball Club.
Amenity
The proposals would bring new amenities to the area, boost the local economy and secure the necessary infrastructure to support the Club’s future ambitions for growth, all while enhancing the matchday experience for fans.
Plans would see the installation of:
- Two new large-scale retail facilities for major occupiers.
- A retail terrace and commercial units, including a flagship sports brand facility.
- Dedicated car parking facilities to support the new demand.
- Public spaces designed to promote health and well-being.
- Green spaces integrated throughout the development for community enjoyment.
Inclusivity
The Hull KR Foundation is dedicated to supporting some of the most vulnerable communities in Hull, and beyond.
Against challenging economic times—felt especially hard in Hull—our proposals aim to bring hope to the city with new investment into our health and wellbeing, with the right infrastructure and facilities to support this.
By leveraging the power of sport, our development will extend its impact beyond the needs of the Club and have a positive impact on local communities, demonstrating the Club’s commitment to investing in a brighter future for the region.
Design
By regenerating the land around the Sewell Group Craven Park Stadium, we aim to transform the area into a community hub with improved local infrastructure. Plans are filled with opportunities for local people, including new employment opportunities.
With improvements to the landscape and the inclusion of green spaces, the proposals would see enhancements to the local environment and quality of life for local residents. These areas would be accessible to all, providing ample space for outdoor activities, fitness and community engagement.
Health and Wellbeing
Improving access to sporting activities and facilities for all will enhance health and wellbeing in East Hull and beyond – and is a key priority in the masterplans.
Hull faces significant challenges when it comes to health that are disproportionately more prevalent when compared with most other UK regions.
This development is dedicated to changing that narrative, creating a fairer landscape for the people of Hull – promoting healthier communities and better outcomes.
By investing in new infrastructure, vibrant outdoor spaces, and job opportunities, we aim to drive economic growth that will directly impact on health and wellbeing.
With training pitches, a sports hall, and inclusive community fitness spaces, we also aim to make fitness more accessible within our plans – supporting rugby and other sports within the process; this is set to enhance the development of local young people of all ages and backgrounds, and better their personal growth.
