ABOUT HULL KR FOUNDATION

Image

The Hull KR foundation are a Hull-based charity, who harness the power of sport and physical activity to empower local people, and deliver impact across health, wellbeing and education in the region.

Having worked in schools, community clubs and communities throughout the city and beyond, the foundation connects frequently with individuals and groups who face inequality at a disproportionate level – breaking down barriers for vulnerable groups. Through the means of sport, the foundation works to ease the burden of economic hardship through support and intervention.

Their work operates around four key goals:

  • To increase and retain the number and diversity of people playing, coaching, officiating and volunteering within rugby league.
  • To tackle health inequalities using the vehicle of rugby league, focusing on improving three key areas: obesity, mental health and loneliness.
  • Use rugby league to provide a range of educational opportunities to different people.
  • Provide bespoke support and opportunities for the long-term unemployed and those with disabilities to support in the development of their self-confidence and skills, with a longer-term view of supporting them into employment or voluntary work.
